MẦM VIỆT - A FARM OF HEALTHY, CLEAN FRUITS AND VEGETABLES SERVING DAILY MEALS FOR VIETNAMESE FAMILIES
Dreaming of establishing a clean green vegetable farm to provide daily meals for families, relatives, friends, and the community, driven by the needs of loved ones within the family.
- In the midst of seeking out and selecting vegetables and fruits daily, ensuring their origin and safe production processes in an environment where food is saturated with chemicals, unclear origins, and lacking quality assurance have infiltrated our daily meals, and diseases proliferate every day.
Eventually, the dream of creating a "clean agriculture" that serves the Vietnamese people never appeared stronger. In the summer of 2017, a small farm was built with the name "Mam Viet" in Hamlet 1, Hoa Tan Commune, Nghia Hoa District, Quang Ngai Province. With dedication and a mission, Mam Viet aimed to cultivate green seedlings and nurture and cultivate them into clean and healthy vegetable and fruit products to serve our Vietnamese community, just as the name "Mam Viet" signifies.
- After days of research and study, we believed in and decided to apply hydroponic methods to production due to their outstanding advantages, such as being able to control all potential health hazards present in the products.
- Additionally, with this hydroponic method, which is considered soilless agriculture compared to traditional methods, we can use advanced technology within greenhouses. Therefore, plant growth is less reliant on weather conditions, and soil quality, and pests and diseases can be entirely controlled. Consequently, the vegetables and fruits produced will be of higher quality, and higher yield, ensuring safety, and being more environmentally friendly.
- After six months of initial experimentation, Mam Viet Farm produced and introduced the first hydroponic vegetable products to the market, including traditional vegetables used in daily meals such as sweet cabbage, green cabbage, Chinese cabbage, Napa cabbage, water spinach, amaranth, imported lettuce seeds from the Netherlands, and Japanese lettuce seeds to serve both the local and wider community.
- The initial market response and support for the farm's vegetable products primarily came from office workers and then housewives. With the desire for our products to be chosen and used in daily meals by every household, the farm sold and packaged products with affordable prices that could be purchased and used in both urban and rural areas. Positive feedback on product quality and reasonable prices quickly poured in from consumers, emboldening us to confidently distribute our vegetable and fruit products in various clean food stores, supermarkets in Quang Ngai Province, and preschools within Nghia Hoa commune.
- In addition to the production and supply of clean vegetables, Mam Viet Farm also organized activities such as garden tours, gatherings, and exchanges of agricultural experiences among local and external farmers' groups. Furthermore, we organized hands-on experience activities in high-tech agriculture for preschools to visit and engage in.
- After two years of investment in production, we managed to meet the demand for high-quality products at reasonable prices. Our customer base gradually expanded with more orders and new customers seeking our products. To fulfill the supply of clean food to customers within and beyond the province, we invited partners who shared our vision to collaborate and jointly invest in and develop this clean agriculture sector. This led to the establishment of the Mam Viet Clean Agricultural Cooperative in July 2019.
