Awesome tips for speed cleaning your house for Tet

It's that time of year again! Tet is coming around quickly. As the days before Tet can get hectic, cleaning the entire house in one day because you just got too busy could definitely be an overwhelmed task. Then, we are just paralyzed against doing anything about it. Don’t worry! These tips from GO! encourage you to just dive in because when you do, you’ll feel better about your living space. Read on for tips!

#1 First things first, let’s make a cleaning checklist

A house cleaning checklist can reduce your stress and split up cleaning into manageable tasks you can accomplish during the weeks before Tet. Some suggestions from GO!:

  • Living room: clean behind and under the sofa, dust furniture and shelves, polish wood furniture, vacuum carpets and wash curtains

  • Kitchen: clean outside of appliances (polish stainless steel ones), clean inside the oven/microwave, scrub and sanitize sinks, defrost the freezer

  • Bathroom: Clean and sanitize sink, floor, polish the mirror and glass, scrub the walls

  • Bedroom: clean under the bed, declutter the junk drawer, clean windows

This list makes cleaning for Tet so much easier than having to think about what needs doing and then forgetting areas in your home. If you don’t have enough time, cut the things that don’t matter and focus on the areas that do! Split up the tasks on the list to include everyone in your home, and they’ll fly by even faster.

#2: Let's declutter the house

As clutter makes a house look messy, plus it is harder to clean a cluttered room. The next step GO! suggests that you should declutter your house before deep-cleaning. Just grab 4 cartoon boxes, labeled with “keep”, “recycle”, “discard”, “donate”, and clear out paperwork, toys, books, clothes, and random souvenirs or other junk that taking up space.

#3 Some other good tips

Cleaning the refrigerator to make room for Tet food is a must: Throw out any old takeout or expired items to make room for all the food you’re preparing.

Try to use products that are less harmful and contain few chemicals: Create a solution with equal parts of water and vinegar in a spray bottle and use a microfiber cloth to clean toothpaste stains and watermarks. (or bicarbonate of soda)

Microfiber cloth is the best: The cloths you use will affect your cleaning, microfibers work so much better than old-fashioned dusters! Come to the nearest GO! to bring home these magical cloths.

Keep your kitchen sink spotless with half a lemon: Just rub the salt over the sink, when it's thoroughly coated, rub half of lemon onto the salt, the natural citric acid will cut through rust and stains, leave it for 3-4 hours, scrub off, and rinse with warm water. Voila! you get a clean shining stainless sink in no time.

Make the yellow-stained pillows white again: Not just the pillowcases nor the sheets, the pillows need a good cleaning at least once a year. As these pillows harbor dirt, sweat, mold, even bacteria that build up over time. Soak the yellow-stained pillows with hydrogen peroxide (natural whitener) and vinegar (stain remover) for at least 1 hour, then wash with hot water. Remove the pillows from the washing machine, and be amazed by their fresh whiteness and smelling fresh.
